The Jessel Green Community Fun day was a great success. So many people enjoying the Green, with children able to enjoy so many rides and families taking time to picnic together and join in the activities. Those of us from Restore Community Centre were glad to be involved. Loughton Town Council, Red Balloon Company, Epping Forest Community Church and Restore Community Church made organising an event look so easy!
The Cottage Loaf, Red Cross, Security Team, stallholders and ice cream vans all played their part: lost children reunited with their parents; minor injuries cared for; and so much fun in the process of raising money for the Air Ambulance, St Clare’s Hospice, Breast Cancer Research and other local charities.
At the Centre we often find that there are better outcomes for people because of this same sense of community. Whether it’s an agency that uses our counselling room, or arranges to meet a client who also enjoys tea toast and support at the Centre, or people who support and encourage one another, traders looking out for the community and each other, or the amazing volunteers in the Centre and the charity shops, we are convinced that community working together is good for everyone.
